Private by design

Your documents never reach our servers. We don’t have any.

Bank statements, contracts, medical letters: the things people scan are exactly the things they shouldn’t upload to someone else’s AI. ScanLM is built so they never have to.

  • No account, no sign-up. Open the app and scan.
  • Collects no data. No analytics, no ads, no tracking, no crash-reporting service.
  • Text recognition on the device. OCR uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework.
  • Your AI, your hardware. Connect a model on your own Mac or server, or use Apple Intelligence on the device.
  • Your storage. Documents stay on the device and, if you like, in your own iCloud Drive.

Live edge detection, automatic perspective correction, shadow flattening and six presets, from crisp black-and-white text to photos.

Searchable PDFs

On-device text recognition adds an invisible text layer, so you can select, copy and search. Also exports JPEG, PNG, HEIC and TIFF.

Named in one tap

Right after scanning, tap the wand: the AI reads the pages and suggests a file name, tags and a short summary. You decide what to keep.

Ask your documents

“When is this due?” “What’s the policy number?” Chat with any document, or have it summarised or translated.

Search covers names, tags, summaries and the full recognised text of every page, so the letter you need turns up in seconds.

Run an open model on your Mac, PC or home server and point ScanLM at it.

  • Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp or any OpenAI-compatible server
  • On your Wi-Fi, or anywhere through a private network such as Tailscale
  • Vision models can even read pages with no recognisable text

Apple Intelligence

On iPhones and iPads that support Apple Intelligence, ScanLM can use Apple’s on-device model.

  • Runs entirely on the device, even offline
  • Requires iOS 26 or later and Apple Intelligence turned on
  • Works with the recognised text of a document

What does ScanLM cost?

Nothing. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad with iOS / iPadOS 17 or later. Apple Intelligence features need a compatible device with iOS 26 or later.

Do I need an AI model to use it?

No. Scanning, edge correction, text recognition, PDF export, folders, tags and search work without one. The model adds naming, summaries and chat.

Does the developer see my documents?

No. The app has no server of its own and sends nothing to the developer. Read the privacy policy for the details.
